Wickwar Pre-School

Wickwar Pre-School is situated in the Community Rooms adjacent to Alexander Hosea School.  The pre-School has 3 full-time members of staff and a number of part-time employees and is run by a committee of parents on a voluntary basis.

We are a registered charity and OFSTED inspected. We have recently received an excellent OFSTED report and are working towards the ‘Quality Assurance Award’ to achieve an even higher standard of nursery education. (To read our 2005 Pre-School OFSTED report click here).

The Pre-School

The pre-School is open 5 days a weeks and runs sessions in the morning and afternoons.  Morning sessions are from 9.05 am to ll.35 am. and afternoon sessions run from 12.45 p m to 3.15 p m.

We take children from the age of 2½ years until they reach School age.

Caterpillar Club
We run these sessions for children aged between 2 ½ and 3 years.  These sessions have fewer children and a very high staff to child ratio ensuring the best attention and safest environment for our youngest children.

Butterfly Club
Children enter Butterfly Club on their 3rd birthday.  These sessions run daily and children have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities.

Pre-School Sessions
The sessions are run especially for those children starting School that year, they are more structured and may include visits from teachers, practice P.E. lessons, etc. ensuring the very best introduction to School life.

This year we have also added a lunchtime session onto the morning sessions, where the children bring a packed lunch.  These have been very popular.

The Committee

The Wickwar Pre-School is run by a committee of parents who tirelessly fund-raise to buy extra toys and activities.   Themed fund-raising evenings are always extremely successful, thanks to the support of the people of Wickwar and the surrounding areas.  Recent events have included: School Disco, 70's Night, Casino Night, Grease and Caribbean Night.

The Committee always needs members, friends and helpers so if you can spare some time please don’t hesitate to contact us.
