A Night with Munch!

MunchThe Alexander Hosea School PTA has come up with something special for you to get your teeth into next month – a night in the company of nationally and internationally-acclaimed northern band ‘Munch!’

As many of our regular party-goers know, we have enjoyed some great nights down the years in our efforts to raise funds for the school, with a wide array of weird and whacky themes. But this event looks like being something else!

The Munch trio have a magnificent pedigree when it comes to their musical backgrounds, which is why they have been performing professionally across the length and breadth of Europe since the late 1990s.

Take drummer Robin Hill, for example. Having once played in the same band – The Squad - as Terry Hall, who went on to join the famous 1980s Two Tone group The Specials, Hill has toured with supergroups such as The Clash and the Communards, while backing vocalist and guitarist Colin Trevorrow worked with The Farm and The Shamen, earning him appearances at Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Albert Hall.

The third member of the trio, Mike Deakin, developed his singing and guitar strumming skills in the company of a member of the famous Liverpool band The LA’s and is these days a professional session musician.

Munch will be helping our St George’s Night celebrations go with a swing on Saturday, April 26th and you can certainly expect a vast repertoire of songs from them as they belt out rock, pop and dance hits from the 1950s through to the present day.

Be warned too, the trio relish getting members of their audience up and out of their seats, which means you might just get the chance to show off your so-called karaoke skills alongside the pro’s – and who knows what might stem from that!

Considering they hail all the way from Merseyside and are in such high demand, we are privileged to have Munch come and perform for us over two hour-long sessions during our St George’s Night entertainment, which includes a ploughman’s and disco, all of which gets underway at 8pm.

They are described as “dynamic and good humoured”, a group who play “lively, danceable hits from the 50s through to present day No1s.”

Tickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available from Sue Parkinson (01454 299562), Sian Belcher (01454 294)  or Emma Grose (01454 294297), and they’re likely to go quickly (the tickets that is, not the girls!).
