Parent Teacher Association
The Alexander Hosea School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of like minded people whose primary aim is to raise funds for the school. These funds go towards "extras" that cannot be funded directly by the school and also towards much needed equipment.

Additionally, they aim to make their fund-raising events as inclusive as possible to attract attention from across the community.

Examples of the hugely popular fund-raising events that they organize are: Village Sports Day, Annual Fun Run, Quiz Nights, Village Fair, Christmas Fair, Children's Discos, Carol Singing.

PTA general enquiries should be emailed to  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

At our Last Meeting . .

Our Constitution

Wickwar Gardening Club was formed in June 2005; we meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Wickwar Town Hall at 8.00pm. The purpose of the club is the encouragement and enjoyment of all forms of horticulture.

In our first year we visited members’ gardens in Wickwar, had a talk on Wildlife Pond Gardening, held Tomato and Penstemon trials, had a demonstration on seed sowing the RHS way and took a photographic trip through the development of some of our members’ gardens over the years. We have also joined the waiting list for a visit to Highgrove – should be a real treat.

We hold a plant swap each month giving us a chance to share spare cuttings, seedlings and plants.

If you have an interest in gardening then why not come along to our next meeting on any 3rd Monday in the month at 8.00pm in the Town Hall. Alternatively contact Nicki Dale on 01454 294805 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Football

LogoThe Club has Senior and Youth sections. Senior teams play on Saturdays in the Stroud and District League (Divisions 4 and 7) , home matches are played on the King George V playing fields in Wickwar.

Youth teams play in the Stroud Youth League and the mid-Gloucestershire mini-league.

For up to date information please visit  www.wickwarfc.co.uk.

A major event is the annual Football Frolic; a five-a-side football tournament held in June. Forty to fifty teams enter, from 6-7 year olds to the over fifties. Girls' and womens' teams are also represented. This event is open to members of the club and Wickwar residents.

The first reference to organised Association Football in Wickwar was in 1893. There have been teams in this small "town" ever since, with some decades bringing more honours than others. Early on in the 1900s, the team was called Wickwar Athletic. But fashions change and so did the name, and Wickwar Athletic became Wickwar Rovers then Wickwar United until 1990 when it became Wickwar Wanderers. With a number of breweries in Wickwar, it is not surprising that Wickwar teams were locally referred to as "The Brewers" in the first decades of the century.
